Silence of Animals: On Progress and Other Human Myths by John Gray

This was the image used in Sunday Times’ review of this book. Creature comforts: Isaac van Amburgh and his animals, 1839, by Edwin Landseer (Birdgeman Art)

John Gray questions the value of humanity in light of humanity’s inescapable animality in his Silence of Animals: On Progress and Other Human Myths. I recommend it side by side with Allen Feldman’s article “Inhumanitas: Political Speciation, Animality, Natality, Defacement” in this book.
